Hyperbaric Oxygen for Sudden Hearing Loss: Early Intervention Matters

In patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss, hyperbaric oxygen therapy aims to improve microcirculation and reduce inflammation by increasing oxygen pressure in the inner ear. Studies show that patients who start treatment early, especially in combination with corticosteroid therapy, tend to see more favorable outcomes.

While research results do not offer complete consensus on effectiveness, some studies observed hearing improvement in more than half of patients. Experts emphasize the need for further clinical trials to establish standardized pressure and duration protocols.
