Meta-Analysis on Diabetic Foot Ulcers: Lower Amputation Risk

A meta-analysis of 14 studies covering 768 participants found that hyperbaric oxygen therapy provided a statistically significant benefit in the complete healing of diabetic foot ulcers and in reducing the risk of major amputation.

A recent systematic review published in 2024 reached similar conclusions: the majority of studies reviewed observed lower rates of major amputation, higher wound healing rates, and reduced ulcer size and depth with HBOT.
