Pre-Season Preparation in Sports Clubs: Hyperbaric Support Programs
Performance and medical teams at professional sports clubs are increasingly turning to hyperbaric oxygen applications to support recovery during congested match and training periods. Reviews in the sports medicine literature report that HBOT may help reduce edema and inflammation after soft-tissue injuries and carries the potential to shorten an athlete's return-to-training time.
In a club setting, planning tops the list of priorities: sessions should be integrated into the training and match calendar, evaluated together with player-specific load monitoring, and carried out under the supervision of the club physician. Researchers also note that much of the current evidence rests on small-sample studies and that larger controlled trials are needed to establish standard protocols.
